Spinloots KYC Guide: Get Verified Quickly

Verification protects you as much as it protects us. This guide explains exactly what we ask for, why we ask for it and how to get through the checks first time.

Know Your Customer checks, usually shortened to KYC, are part of playing at any casino that is licensed and regulated in Great Britain. Under UK rules we must confirm your age and identity before you can play, deposit into games or claim a bonus. It keeps under-18s out, stops fraud and makes sure withdrawals reach the right person.

At Spinloots we have tried to make verification as painless as possible. Most checks clear within 24 hours, and many are completed far sooner. Below you will find the documents we accept, how to upload them and the most common reasons a document gets sent back.

Why we verify you

We operate under a Great Britain gambling licence, which means we have legal duties to:

  • Confirm every customer is 18 or over.
  • Confirm you are who you say you are.
  • Check that your address is genuine and in the United Kingdom.
  • Make sure the money you deposit is affordable for you and comes from a legitimate source.
  • Check whether you are registered with GAMSTOP.

Age and identity are checked before any play. Additional checks, such as source of funds, may be requested later depending on your deposit levels.

Documents we accept

CheckAccepted documentsKey requirement
IdentityPassport, UK driving licence, national ID cardValid, not expired, all four corners visible
Proof of addressUtility bill, bank statement, council tax letterDated within the last 3 months, showing your name and address
SelfieA photo of you holding your IDOnly if requested; face and document both clear
Source of fundsPayslip, bank statementFor larger deposits or affordability checks

Identity documents

Your photo ID must be in date and show your full name, date of birth and photograph clearly. A passport photo page or the front of a driving licence or ID card is usually enough, though we may ask for the back of a card as well.

Proof of address

Your address document must be dated within the last three months and show the same name and address as your account. Online statements and e-bills are fine if the full page with your details and the date is visible.

How to upload your documents

Uploading takes a couple of minutes from any device:

  1. Log in and go to Account → Verification.
  2. Choose the document type you are uploading.
  3. Take a photo with your phone camera or select a file from your device.
  4. Check the preview: everything should be sharp, bright and uncropped.
  5. Submit, and you will see the status change to Pending review.

You will receive a notification once each document is approved or if we need something else. If you cannot log in, see our login help first.

How long does verification take?

StageTypical time
Automated age and identity check at sign-upOften instant
Manual document reviewMost checks clear within 24 hours
Selfie checkUsually within 24 hours of upload
Source of funds / affordability reviewDepends on the documents provided

Clear documents first time are the biggest factor in how fast you are verified.

Affordability and source of funds

As your deposits grow, we may ask you to show that your play is affordable and that the money comes from a legitimate source. This is a regulatory requirement, not a judgement about you. Typical documents are a recent payslip or a bank statement showing your income.

We may ask at any point, including after you have already played for some time. While a source of funds review is open, some account features, such as withdrawals or further deposits, may be paused until we have what we need. Uploading promptly is the quickest way to get back to normal.

If an affordability check makes you think about how much you spend, our safer gambling tools are there to help. You can set daily, weekly or monthly deposit limits, loss limits and reality checks, take a time-out of 24 hours to 6 weeks, or self-exclude for 6 months to 5 years.

Common reasons documents are rejected

Most rejections come down to a handful of avoidable issues:

  • Blurry or dark photos. Use good light and hold the camera steady.
  • Cropped edges. All four corners of the document must be visible.
  • Expired ID. Check the expiry date before uploading.
  • Old proof of address. It must be dated within 3 months.
  • Name mismatch. The name must match your account exactly; if you have changed your name, upload supporting evidence.
  • Edited or partial documents. Do not cover any part of an ID. On bank statements you may hide transaction details, but not your name, address, date or the bank name.

If your verification is stuck

If your status has been pending for more than 24 hours, check your notifications to see whether we have asked for anything extra. If not, our 24/7 live chat can tell you exactly where your check stands. Our troubleshooting page also covers stuck verification in more detail.

Verification and withdrawals

A fully verified account makes withdrawals faster. If your documents are already approved, your payout can move straight through our pending window of up to 24 hours. Remember that withdrawals return to the method you deposited with, so the payment account must be in your own name. Play is for adults aged 18 and over only.
